VKU Certificate Validity in Switzerland

Unlimited Validity Since January 1, 2021
Previously, the VKU certificate was valid for only two years. However, a federal regulation change came into effect on January 1, 2021. Since that date, any newly issued VKU certificate is now valid indefinitely across all of Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
When Do You Need Your VKU Certificate?
You must complete the VKU course and obtain the certificate before you can register for the practical driving examination. The road traffic office (Strassenverkehrsamt) will require you to present the original certificate when you book your test slot.

- Attend VKU Course: Complete the 8-hour course and receive your certificate.
