From Zurich HB to your English VKU classroom
Arriving by train, or leaving an office in the city centre? This guide starts at Zurich HB and takes you to the LAB entrance on the PH Zurich campus. The course is at Lagerstrasse 2, beside Europaallee: the important part is choosing the station exit and finding the right room, rather than taking another tram across town.

How to reach LAB from Zurich HB
A journey planner often stops its estimate at the station. Add the platform-to-exit walk, the campus approach and time to locate your classroom. Aim to be at the room ten minutes before the first block, including on the second course day.
Leaving the station
- Follow the station signs for Europaallee, allowing time to get from your arrival platform to the exit.
- Cross to the PH Zurich campus square and identify the LAB building at Lagerstrasse 2.
- At the entrance, read the display on the right for the current course room. E is ground level, F is the floor above.
Check the current ZVV journey planner or SBB connections. Use arrival time rather than departure time when planning for a fixed lesson start.
Walking from the city centre
Start from your actual office or hotel address and use Lagerstrasse 2 as the destination. If your route reaches the station first, look for Europaallee rather than assuming that the main hall or Bahnhofstrasse entrance is the nearest exit. The campus square gives access to LAB; the room display is the final checkpoint.
At LAB, the screen to the right of the entrance identifies the room. Check it on each day; the classroom can change.
Driving and parking
Use Lagerstrasse 2, 8004 Zurich as the destination when comparing the journey from Zurich HB. Check current road access and paid public parking before leaving; no general visitor parking is provided on the PH campus. Campus parking is reserved for visitors with reduced mobility.
Allow for the walk from your chosen car park and finding the course room. Do not rely on a fixed driving time in city traffic. If you need step-free access or accessible parking, contact DriveLab before the course so the room and approach can be checked.
Campus reference: PH Zurich access information. For the course entrance, use DriveLab’s venue video and campus plan. The course address is the same for all the arrival guides on this site.
For city-centre workers and rail commuters
The short final approach is useful when you already pass through HB, but a late meeting or delayed train still affects your arrival. Select a course whose complete timetable you can keep.
Before choosing a date
If you arrive on a long-distance train, keep the train arrival time and the course start time as separate calendar entries.
Check the second journey
Do not assume the platform on your return journey will be the same as on arrival; check your departure after the full session ends.
Leave an arrival buffer
Use the campus plan and route video before your first visit, especially if the building names LAA, LAB and LAC are unfamiliar.
English teaching requires enough fluency to understand and take part at B2 level. The CHF 159 price for the current 2026 courses includes all eight hours, materials and the certificate; it is not a charge for each separate day. Bring your learner’s permit and an official ID for a 2026 course. For the changed sequence and format from 2027, read the dated rules below.
The course choice matters as much as the route: compare two evening sessions with a Friday-evening/Saturday-morning pair on the live timetable. Use the actual listed times, as you cannot swap individual blocks between courses automatically. Registration and payment are completed with the same DriveLab provider.

Frequently Asked Questions: VKU English Zurich HB
I have a foreign license. Do I need the VKU?
A licence exchange is different from first-time driver training. Do not book a VKU solely because the normal exchange period has passed: ask the cantonal road traffic office which procedure applies to your case. DriveLab’s licence-exchange guide explains the distinction; if you must restart the full learner process, confirm the required steps before booking.
How far is the VKU course from Zurich main station?
The course is at Lagerstrasse 2 on the PH campus beside Zurich HB. Your door-to-door distance depends on the actual starting address, transport connection and station exit. Use the journey planner for your course date, then allow for the Europaallee walk and ten minutes before teaching starts.
Is the VKU course location convenient for commuters?
The campus is beside the main station, which is useful if you arrive by rail or leave from the city centre. Check the complete outward and return journeys for both teaching days, including the walk to LAB. A delayed train or late meeting still needs an arrival buffer.
Can I walk from Zurich HB to the VKU course?
Yes. Leave Zurich HB on the Europaallee side and continue to the PH campus square. Find the LAB entrance and check its display for the course room. The walk from an individual arrival platform takes additional time, so avoid planning only to the train’s arrival time.
Which tram goes to the VKU English course from HB?
From HB, you can walk via Europaallee to the campus rather than taking an onward tram. If your journey starts elsewhere in the city, compare current connections to Sihlpost, the nearby stop identified by PH Zurich, and follow the final walking directions to LAB.
Are evening courses available for city center workers?
Compare the actual date pairs on the schedule with your work or study calendar. Current 2026 courses include two-evening and Friday-evening/Saturday-morning options. Attendance is required for every block, so reserve the second date as well as the first and allow for the journey from Zurich HB.
Is the course really 100% in English?
Yes! The entire VKU course is conducted 100% in English—all instruction, course materials, videos, and Q&A sessions. Our certified instructor, Dario Lichtensteiger, delivers the course in fluent English, making it perfect for expats, international workers, and anyone more comfortable learning in English.
What's included in the CHF 159 price?
The CHF 159.- price is all-inclusive: 8 hours of professional instruction over two days, all course materials and handouts, and your official VKU certificate (recognized throughout Switzerland and Liechtenstein). No hidden fees or surprise charges.
